    Default QuickBooks?

I'm starting a small, one-girl service business. Since you have a whole QuickBooks forum here, I assume you like the software. Is it a good choice for this kind of business?

    Thanks!

QuickBooks has different versions that are meant to serve a variety of needs. Simple Start is cost effective but not the easiest to use. i would say Pro or Premier as they have advanced features and better support.

Melanie, Congratulations on starting a new business. I would suggest QB pro. You will find that it has more features that you currently need, but the hope is you will grow into it, Right?

My suggestion depends on how much business you are doing, what kind of business, experience with accounting software, etc? I would personally start with an excel spreadsheet listing out all of your checks written and deposits made. Keep all your business bank statements. Are you filing a Sch C for your first year? You basically need to keep track of all your business income and expenses. Details of what the checks are for is also helpful, example. Check 100 1/1/10- Sprint- Telephone Expense. PM me if you need more assistance.

QuickBooks is definitely the most popular and most intuitive in my opinion. There are lots of resources online to help you learn or if you have a question, just google it. Also, if you hire an accountant for help most will answer your questions no problem. Best of luck with your business.
