Default Full Charge Bookkeeper/Accountant - Houston, TX

Local non-profit seeks experienced bookkeeper to handle all accounting/payroll functions, including but not limited to:

Accounting duties include but not limited to:
A/P & A/R, Invoicing, Bank Recon., verifying accounts for ME close, prepare monthly FS, Bi-weekly payroll functions, Banking, assist with Audit, handle all State and Federal tax filings/forms, maintain all necessary licenses, etc.

Administrative duties include but not limited to:
Answering phones, sort and distribute mail, order supplies, maintain highly confidential files, support overall program, handle all requests for background checks, work with new hires to collect all required paperwork, perform other duties as assigned, etc.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have:
A) 3 yrs + experience of all bookkeeping tasks, including payroll;
B) Proficient with Quickbooks Pro and all Microsoft Office products;
C) Detail oriented and highly organized;
D) Ability to handle some HR duties and development (donor) tracking;
E) Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures;
F) Excellent communication skills;
G) Ability to meet deadlines;
H) Must have a passion to impact the lives of middle school students;
I) College and Spanish a plus;
J) Desires to have fun.

The bookkeeper/accountant position is a critical component to the overall success of the organization. The position is global in scope serving over 50 employees, 38 locations, in two regions within Texas. The bookkeeper/accountant is located in the corporate offices in Houston. However, travel may be possible depending on circumstances but extremely rare.

This salaried position includes a comprehensive benefits package for the employee including:
Medical and dental (Employee only, 90% paid by employer)

Normal work hours: 8am - 5pm
