Hi, my primary reason for being here is that I want to be able to look at a Balance Sheet and know if it's a good company to invest in. I go grocery shopping frequently. I buy just enough for a day or two; I don't like to waste food. I'll buy fresh veggies and fruits, what ever is on sale and just enough for one day. I'm pretty good at pricing things. I know how much to buy a steak for, chicken, pork etc. I know what a good deal is. Now, there's no reason why I can't look at a company and know if it's a good place to invest or not.
I've taken basic college level Accounting 101. I took it as a summer course. It was the worst class I ever took. For one, it was at 8:30 in the morning. I work nights. It's hard for me to get in the rhythm of going to sleep early. My first class, the AC was on full blast and directly on me; I fell asleep. Now, my instructor was very good. He had a PhD and been teaching for years. He was a good communicator. The text book, however, was a different story. The authors assumed too much. Several steps, they assumed I already new. I should have had a high school level book. That would have spelled it out to me.
Also, I wish to own my own business one day. I have to be able to at least understand the books.
