Default Earned Income Tax Credit Fraud

    Hello.

My name is Mary Ticchione. I am an undergraduate senior at Regis University, in Colorado.

I am in the process of preparing a senior capstone project on the amount of fraud surrounding the earned income tax credit. EITC fraud is the fastest growing tax fraud, and is costing billions per year in fraudulent refunds.

I am looking for opinions regarding this topic, and in particular, opinions as to what feasible solutions may be to alleviate the burden of this type of fraud.

Any input would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your time and all input received.
    Mary

The first step to resolving any tax problem is to find out where you currently stand with the IRS for all of your taxes. One year cannot be resolved on its own without knowing about all the other years, unless you decide to full pay the one year.
