    Default Struggles in Economics

I'm in school studying to become an accountant. I have done very well in all
of my accounting classes so far, but my problem is in Macroeconomics. I'm
currently taking the class, and I am horrible at it. I'm really worried about
this because not only does it bring down my GPA, but I'm worried about it
affecting my career choice. I currently have a D average in the class, and I
just can't quite get the subject material down. I study constantly, but it just
doesn't really click for me. In what ways will this affect my career? Did
    anyone else struggle with this?

I had a problem with economics too but I did manage to get a B. It won't affect your career of course because you are not an economics major....

    Don't worry about it!

Concentrate on your core accounting subjects, your GPA might take a hit but it won't affect your career. Accountants will always be in demand no matter what!

    Hey!
I am glad you are so focused in your career. Economics seems a tough subject but it's not that difficult also. Concentrate on accounting as you have to ultimately make a career in that.

Yeah I mean, I think most of it falls on the teacher, because there are people who took the class with him and failed and were confused, but then they retook it with a different professor & got an A and said it was such an easy subject. The problem is the professor just tells you "Oh, this is important. Remember this stuff." but he doesn't explain it. He assumes that we can just read the book and comprehend. With the equations and curves and stuff, he needs to show us how to do it, not just leave us sitting in class listening to his boring life stories. He has a 90% failure rate in his classes, yet has been teaching for 25 years in the same school & is currently the only professor of economics. So, it's not like I can take the subject again with another professor b/c the one that actually helped & taught & PASSED students got fired. Figure that one out.

The only thing I could think of is that he is foreign & has tenure, and he has said that if they ever tried to fire him he could easily bring up the "prejudice boss" card. Such a great guy.

Dont worry about economics. As long as you can grasp it, you're fine. As far as a change in career choice, it has nothing to do with real world accounting. Pretty much like most coursework other than taxation and a little bit of the advanced theory courses. Good luck.
