This is a difficult one as you want to get on with your boss and progress at your firm. If you ask to speak to her about it in private and just be honest that you have other commitments and wont be able to afford it this month due to Christmas being from a money background she should understand!

Those events are surprisingly fun. I was feeling like you do, but then I went and its amazing how much your bosses will open up and have fun.

I spoke with a friend who works for a Law firm this morning and she said a surprising amount of companies contact them over the Christmas period about disciplinary action over drunk staff at Parties. Not meaning to put you off just a thought to bear in mind if you don't go

I actually agree with Mike on this one - I kniow its been and gone but what happened in the end Laila?

I would not have gone! Especially if they had picked an expensive place to go and eat! I mean if your making people pay themselves then bloddy choose somewhere that EVERYONE can afford without havomg to think about it you know? Just because management is used to being able to go to these expensive places without a thought it does not mean that everyone else!

I also agree with Mike about the parties, personally being as broke as I am right now, forget the party and give me the few hundred £££ you know? Bonuses and pay rises have been non-existent for nearly two years now and to be honest its getting rather annoying!

Trust me I am grateful I have a job, but a little appreciation would not go amiss!
