Thread: Need help fixing trial balance

I needed to enter two months of balances from the old system into the new system. I entered the ending balance for each month instead of entering the total debits and total credits for each month. I already posted it and it cannot be unposted. Now the trial balance from the old system and new system don't match. How can I fix this?

Reverse the prior month's entry: that is, enter the same dollar amounts to the same accounts but for all debit entries, post credit entries; and for all credit entries, post debit entries.

What exactly was the problem? if you entered the YTD numbers it should have been fine? As noted above, just post the same exact entry but in the opposite direction. Credit everything you debited and vice versa
