1. Can you treat new hires as independent contractors during their probationary period?

2. Alice works at home where is injured while on the job. Is Alice covered by workers’ comp?

3. Are new tires for the company car depreciated or expensed?

4. You specifically tell Paul, an hourly employee, not to work during her lunch hour, but he does anyway. Must you pay him for the meal period?

5. New-hire Pat Green hands you a Social Security card on which you see her last name spelled “Gree.” On her paycheck, you must spell her last name _____.

6. You give permanent, full-time employees paid vacation and holiday leave. Must you do the same for temps and part-timers?

7. Is a note receivable recorded at face value or maturity value?

8. Your company sets up a line of credit at its bank. Are the fees for this service expensed or capitalized? What about loan commitment fees?
